10 Celebrities Who Have Famous Parents!

Hollywood is full of acting dynasties, but some are more obvious than others. For example, we all know that Michael Douglas is the son of Kirk Douglas, but did you know that Jamie Lee Curtis is the daughter of Psycho‘s Janet Leigh?

In this list, we bring you ten well-known celebrities who have followed their parents into the world of show business. In some cases, the families below have responded well to being in the spotlight, whilst other relationships haven’t managed to cope with the pressures of fame all that well.

Scroll down the list below to read more about ten celebrities with very famous parents…

1. Ben Stiller

Superstar Ben Stiller is known the world over for his hilarious comic performances in hit movies such as ZoolanderMeet the Parents and Dodgeball (to name a few). But did you know that comedy quite literally runs in his veins? His parents are veteran comedians Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, who were well-known in the 60s and 70s for their stand-up performances, hilarious skits and joint appearances in award-winning commercials. Jerry later went on to have a recurring role in Seinfeld as George Costanza’s dad, Frank, a portrayal which earned him a nomination for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 1997. He then played Arthur Spooner in King of Queens for nine years from 1998 to 2007.

Let’s not forget Ben’s (soon to be ex) wife, Christine Taylor, is also a famous actress in her own right. She starred opposite her husband in Zoolander and Dodgeball, but has also appeared in Arrested Development as Sally Sitwell and acted alongside Drew Barrymore in The Wedding Singer. Acting is clearly a family affair for the Stillers!

2. Jamie Lee Curtis

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis is the offspring of some seriously big name Hollywood stars. Her father is veteran actor Tony Curtis, who appeared opposite Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon in Some Like It Hot (1959), whilst her mother is Janet Leigh of Psycho (1960) fame. Unfortunately, Jamie Lee has previously revealed that she had a difficult relationship with her dad, claiming that he was ‘not a father’ to her and that the pair were estranged for much of her adult life. Curtis was a father-of-six and an inveterate womaniser who married six times in total – his relationship with Leigh lasted 11 years and they had two children together before divorcing in 1962. Their other daughter Kelly is also an actress.

3. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston rose to fame on the hit sitcom Friends with her role as the lovable Rachel Green, before going on to star in several feature length rom-coms from the early 2000s onwards. Acting clearly runs in her blood, because her father is Greek-American actor John Aniston, who is best known for his long-running role as Victor Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives.

John first appeared on the series in July 1985 and has been a main cast member ever since then! That’s over 2384 episodes to date, an impressive stat for an 84 year old actor. Jen’s father has also made memorable appearances on The West WingStar Trek:Voyager and Gilmore Girlsas well as several hit TV programmes in the 80s. Friends later spoofed the connection between Jen and her father by having Joey Tribbiani appear as Dr Drake Ramoray on a fictionalised version of Days of Our Lives.

4. Carrie Fisher

Like Jamie Lee Curtis, Carrie Fisher’s parents came from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Her father was popular crooner Eddie Fisher and her mother was the actress and dancer Debbie Reynolds, who starred in Singin’ in the Rain and other famous movies from the 50s and 60s. Things famously ended badly for Carrie’s parents when Fisher publicly dumped Reynolds for one of her best friends, who just happened to be the world’s most famous actress at the time, Elizabeth Taylor. Carrie more than emulated her parents success in showbiz with her iconic turn as Princess Leia in the biggest sci-fi franchise of all time, Star Wars.

If that wasn’t enough, Carrie’s daughter is none other than Scream Queens star Billie Lourd, who wears earmuffs in every episode of the horror-comedy series as a subtle tribute to her mum’s famous Princess Leia hair buns. Carrie tragically passed away in December 2016 and was followed only a day later by her mother Debbie. Fortunately, Billie is clearly still keeping the acting tradition alive and is currently slated to reprise her role in the popular TV series American Horror Story.

5. Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones has appeared in a number of successful TV shows including The Office US, Parks and Recreation and Angie Tribeca. But did you know that her father is none other than successful record producer and musician Quincy Jones? Or that her mother is Peggy Lipton of Twin Peaks fame? Jones and Lipton married in 1974 and had two daughters together before divorcing in 1990. Their other daughter is Kidada, an actress and model who was engaged to Tupac Shakur before his death. The showbiz pair still get on for the sake of their children and can often be found cheering on Rashida at various premieres and celeb parties.

6. Chris Pine

Chris Pine has appeared in a number of sci-fi and comic book films over the years, including Star Trek and Wonder Woman. By choosing to be an actor he’s certainly kept things in the family, because his mother Gwynne Gilford and father Robert Pine are both successful TV actors. Gilford appeared in Masters of the Universe and Fade to Black, whilst Pine is best-known for his roles in The Bold and the BeautifulThe Office US and Murder, She Wrote.

7. Dakota Johnson

Dakota Johnson is well-known for being the offspring of 80s showbiz royalty. The 50 Shades of Grey star’s dad is Don Johnson, who made a whole generation of women swoon with his portrayal of Sonny Crockett, whilst her mother is Melanie Griffith who starred in Working Girl and a host of other films in the 80s and beyond.

Just to top it all off, Dakota’s maternal grandmother is none other than Tippi Hedren, who famously starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds! Dakota certainly had a lot of people to turn to for advice when she started to make her own way into the world of acting.

8. Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is probably one of the most recognisable faces on the planet. As well as being an Oscar-winning actress she is also well-known for her humanitarian work and her marriage to actor Brad Pitt. However, Jolie’s initial foray into acting might well be down to the influence of her famous father, who is none other than Jon Voight. Voight starred in the classic films Midnight Cowboy and Deliverance during a career which has earned him a host of awards and nominations, including an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1978.

Unfortunately, Voight and his famous daughter have a strained relationship, with the pair often publicly sparring and enduring long periods of time without communication. Jolie was always much closer to her mother Marcheline Bertrand, whom Voight was married to for nine years from 1971 to 1980.

9. Zoë Kravitz

Zoë Kravitz is a singer, actress and model who recently starred in the hit HBO series Big Little Lies alongside Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. But her parents are just as well-known in the world of show business – her father is famous musician Lenny, whilst her mother is actress Lisa Bonet, one of the stars of The Cosby Show. Although her parents have been divorced for many years, the trio remain extremely close and are often pictured together at events and awards.

In fact, Zoë now has a famous step-father to contend with! Game of Thrones fans will remember Jason Momoa for his starring turn as Khal Drogo in season one of the hit series, and he will be gracing our screens again as Aquaman in the next Marvel film. He and Lisa have been together for many years and recently got married in 2017.

10. Kate & Oliver Hudson

Kate and Oliver Hudson are two of Hollywood’s most recognisable siblings. Kate rose to prominence in the film Almost Famous and went on to star in a number of successful movies including Bride Wars and How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days. Meanwhile, Oliver has found fame on television with his roles as Adam Rhodes in Rules of Engagement, Jeff Fordham on the  musical drama series Nashville and Wes Gardner in the horror comedy Scream Queens. Although they are the children of Bill Hudson and Oscar-winning icon Goldie Hawn, the pair were raised by Goldie and her actor partner Kurt Russell. The pair have a strained relationship with their biological father Bill, but Oliver recently hinted that they have started to reconnect.
