1. Rodney Come Home

Except for Open All Hours, David Jason hadn’t experienced any significant TV roles prior to Only Fools and Horses. But after Jim Broadbent turned down the role of Del Boy, Jason was accepted for the part – even though he doesn’t bear any resemblance to his on-screen brother.

2. Three Men, a Woman, and a Baby

Character Raquel Turner was added to the cast because the show was lacking female members. Actress Tessa Peake-Jones should have only had one appearance, but was eventually written in as a regular after a years worth of work on the show.

You might remember that Trigger refers to Rodney as ‘Dave’ in the show. This is because Trigger’s actor Roger Lloyd Pack would confuse Nicholas Lyndhurst’s name with David Jason’s during the early days of filming – hence the name “Dave” was used.
