Usually, we all want to leave the airport as quickly as possible. They are busy, stressful, confusing and often full of people who have NO IDEA what they are doing. I’m not sure half the people at airports even know what planes are.

So, it’s very nice and extremely rare to enter an airport that gives you an awesome first impression of the country you are visiting. These airports are so nice, I would to happy to just spend my holiday there!

1.) Ashgabat International Airport (Turkmenistan)

The Ashgabat airport has been designed to look like a hovering falcon which is awesome in itself! The outside is breathtaking and the inside is stunning, it’s a work of art. I would feel honoured just to walk through an airport this beautiful.

2.) Abu Dhabi International Airport (UAE)

This airport looks like a floating ship and it’s astounding. It sits nicely between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The sophisticated airport works perfectly with these luxurious cities.

3.) Lyon–Saint-Exupéry International Airport (Lyon, France)

Lyon Airport is simply an architectural masterpiece, it’s so perfect. It just looks so graceful and majestic, I would happily spend my holiday in an airport if they all looked like this!

4.) Marrakesh Menara Airport (Morocco)

This is one of the most beautiful airports in the world and you can see why! It was built during a unique project that aimed to unite European technologies and traditions of Moroccan culture.

5.) Incheon International Airport (South Korea)

One of the largest airports in the world still manages to look gorgeously futuristic! Not only stunning, but this huge airport is also recognized at the best in the world. Definitely worth a visit if you are flying that way!

6.) Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (Shenzhen, China)

If you think the inside of this airport looks very marine-like that’s probably because it’s located in the coastal valley on the east coast of the Pearl River Delta region. It’s the only airport in China connected to seaports for both passenger AND cargo.

This is the busiest airport in Washington but that doesn’t let it sacrifice its style! This airport is fancy and I definitely wouldn’t mind flying from there…

This awesome airport is a symbol of flight. Not surprisingly, this airport is considered to be one of the most original buildings in the world, quite a title! There are no clear sides or walls, everything just flows. It’s very chilled out, man.

9.) Beijing Capital International Airport, Terminal 3 (T3), (Beijing, China)

This was the very first airport in China. The outline of the building represents a dragon, which is awesome in itself. It’s basically a museum of Chinese culture and the pride of the country, oh, and it’s an airport too.

10.) Denver International Airport (USA)

Ahh, the home of conspiracy theorists. Yes, it’s a pretty airport but us theorists know the TRUTH. Basically, a huge amount of land was removed whilst it was being built, meaning that there is 100% DEFINITELY a secret bunker where they are hiding aliens.

Just wow. This is probably the most magnificent airport you will ever set eyes on. The airport is actually built on an artificial island which is mind-blowing enough in itself. To connect it to the land they built one HELL of a bridge and it just about did the job, becoming one of the most amazing works of engineering in the 20th century.

Passengers are greeted by a real forest of palm trees as they enter this airport, now that’s a greeting! Also, if you need to stay the night you can take advantage of one of the ten sleeping cabins that consist of high-speed internet, a TV and a bed, of course!

This airport is one of the largest international airports and it’s a fantastic place to fly from! It’s considered the most popular point of departure in the world. I definitely wouldn’t want to depart LA…

14.) San Francisco International Airport (USA)

This airport is so large that there’s even museums and libraries in the terminals! There are even permanent and temporary exhibitions of art. This airport really has it all!

15.) Samui International Airport (Thailand)

This airport is unusual but that’s why it’s awesome! There are no inner premises except for a gift shop but, let’s be honest here, gift shops are the best shops. Despite being small, this airport serves more than 1 million passengers a year!

16.) Princess Juliana Airport (Sint Maarten)

This airport has an incredibly low-altitude flyover as planes are landing. One end of the runway is extremely close to Maho Beach which offers UNBEATABLE photo opportunities for tourists. These guys are brave, I would run away screaming.

17.) Platov Airport


Platov Airport was built just in time for the influx of visitors thanks to the FIFA World Cup. This airport was designed by twelve architects and it definitely shows, it is simply magnificent!

18.) TWA Flight Centre


The TWA Flight Centre in New York was the epitome of air travel in the Sixties. The funky futuristic design wowed passengers and was really ahead of its time. Sadly, it closed in 2011 but is set to reopen this year as the world’s coolest airport hotel, I definitely want to stay!

19.) Pulkovo Airport, St Petersburg


If you are looking for some of the most beautiful terminals in the entire world, look no further than Pulkovo Airport. The architecture is so stunning, I have absolutely no idea how they did it!

20.) Madrid-Barajas Airport


The curved ceiling in the terminals of this airport is just seamless! I have no idea how you can build like that, it baffles the mind.
