Getting your pet professionally groomed is usually looked at as an ‘optional extra’ for many pet owners. Some may even say it’s a luxury treatment for their pet, especially when they could very well just dunk them in the nearest river or hose them down in the back yard.
However, this really isn’t the case at all. In fact, professional Pet Groomers offer several very essential maintenance services which help your pet to have good health – such as cleaning your pets eyes, ears and butts that your beloved furry four-legged companion may be unable to, or just plain unwilling to look after themselves!
Well, this tongue-in-cheek sign which was found at a pet groomers sums it up pretty freakin’ perfectly. Obviously, the owners of this particular grooming establishment were fed-up and frustrated of being asked the same old questions over and over again about their fees and so they thought it’d be a good use of their time to place all the reasons WHY a pet-groomer is a far more physically demanding job.
And perhaps, hopefully, after reading them yourself, you’ll have a much better appreciation for the job they do for us! I know it did for me.
# 10: Your hairdresser doesn’t wash and clean your rear end.
Have you ever gone to get your haircut and had the stylist ask you to stick your be-hind in the sink so they could rinse it out after a shampoo and a shoulder massage!? No? Well, fancy that.
# 9. You don’t go eight weeks without washing or brushing your hair.
People on a whole are pretty hygienic, and your average human being will wash and brush their hair regularly meaning that its kept neat and clean and smelling good. Then you have dogs. Dogs, do not do this, and can often show up to groomers with a matted, tangled mess of muddy fur… which can take a pretty long time to sort out.
# 8. Your hairdresser doesn’t give you a sanitary trim.
Hairdressers… well, they work on your, hair, obviously. And that hair is on your head. Another obvious one. However, it’s the hair that isn’t on your head that’s the problem… if you know what I mean. If they had to head down south with scissors in their hands, they’d probably charge you slightly more, wouldn’t you say?
# 7. Your hairdresser doesn’t clean your ears.
Yep, another area they don’t touch; your ears. Because let’s face it, going near your ears, especially inside of them, can be pretty darn dangerous. However, for our furry partners in crime, the ear cleaning process is an incredibly important service for them.
# 6. Your hairdresser doesn’t remove the boogers from your eyes.
Because that would be GROSS. However, many breeds of doggies have overactive tear ducts which do cause mucus to build up and so can cause serious discomfort to our dogs and also risks them getting an infection. This gunk can very often be super oozy and gross… but your pet groomer is more than happy to clean it up in order to help out your best friend!
