This Guy Has A 1980s Memorabilia Collection Worth £75k, How Many Items Do You Recognise?

We’re sure that many of you have faithfully held onto some of the toys, games and other associated things from your childhood during the 1980s. But if you were to count up all of the 80s memorabilia that you own, how much would it be worth?

Whatever the total value of your items, we can bet that it will pale into comparison next to the collection accumulated by one John-Paul Annunziato from the United States. He loves the 1980s so much that he’s already spent more than $100,000 (about £75’000) to amass a massive collection of more than 30’000 items…

John-Paul is 39 years old and lives in a one bedroom flat. Unfortunately his one bedroom is so cluttered full of items from the 80s that he’s had to start sleeping in another room! As you can see from these pictures, classic games such as KerPlunk and Operation are piled from floor to ceiling, alongside Care Bears, G.I. Joe toys and classic 80s Breakfast Cereals…

“My goal initially was to bring back the 80s…”, says John-Paul, “…the culture and the style. There was no political correctness. No censorship. The clothes, everything was a statement piece. The 80s was a wild time.”

He continues: “I bought like 200 Nintendo games from someone for like $1,000”. “A guy was selling like 30 or 40 GI Joe figures. I spent close to $2,000 buying them up in auctions over the weekend.“This needs to have some sort of showcase. This needs an audience.”

I’m sure we can all agree that it’s an impressive collection, but as much as we love it we can’t help but get a slight niggling feeling that he may have taken things a bit too far. What do you think?
