Funny autocorrects and Siri mishearing us has been an entertaining (and sometimes frustrating) aspect of technological advancements.
The latest amusing advancement is the Amazon Echo mishearing things and being generally odd.
This video features a small child saying “twinkle twinkle” to the Echo Dot, in the hopes that it would play the song.
The trouble starts when the kid’s pronunciation is a little off. It sounds an awful lot like “dick her, dick her” rather than “twinkle twinkle”, and Alexa, the Echo Dot, responds accordingly…
Alexa then says “porn detected” before reeling off a list of unfortunate categories such as “hot chick, amateur girl, pussy, anal dildo…” etc.
The child’s parents are quick to intervene, screaming “Alexa, stop!”
The real question is whether or not the Amazon Echo did it because there was porn in the search history or the local network, or whether the device just had a technically unsound moment… Maybe there should be some parental lock on the new device?
Amazon haven’t commented on the incident.
