Since the release of Iron Man ten years ago back in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded all the way from Earth to Asgard, exploding onto our screen like Thor’s hammer when Cate Blanchett got hold of it in Ragnarok. The hugely popular films are based on characters from the Marvel Comic Series, first established in 1939 as Timely Publications.
Fast forwards several years and Marvel Studios is formed, with 33 year old Kevin Feige was announced as the studio chief. Feige’s vision was to create a shared universe in which all these characters co-existed, releasing individual films for main characters and then bringing them together in a crossover film. 11 years down the line and it’s clear to see that Feige’s vision was a soaring success.
As of today, the company have produced 18 films, with another 14 more in various stages of production. So far there have been three ‘crossover’ films, including Avengers Assemble, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. The biggest crossover of all is set to happen in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War with every character seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far coming together to try and take down the evil Thanos.
So how many of the 18 films have you watched and how much of a Marvel super fan do you think you are? Are you a mighty-Thor or looser-Loki, a Guardian of the Galaxy or a Dark Elf? Test yourself with our quiz to find out if you have what it takes to become the next Avenger.
