Melissa Suffield was a little girl of 11 when she first started playing Lucy Beale on EastEnders. Now she’s 24, and has been up to a bunch since then!
She held the role from 2004 to 2010, when she was replaced by Hetti Bywater – the original Lucy Beale was axed from the soap after she failed to pay attention to warnings regarding her “unruly” behaviour. Later on, it was revealed that she had been caught drinking whilst she was still underage – even though the soap star was just a few months away from turning 18.
She later said that she was just “testing boundaries”, as any other teenager might: the difference was that she was also starring in the soap. This and a few of photos on her Facebook – particularly one in which she pouted with a lollipop with the words “suck me for pleasure” written on it – caused her career to come to an embarrassing end.
Since her role as the troubled Walford teen, Melissa has remained very much active in the acting industry, starring as the lead part in Norma Jean at the Ye Olde Rose and Crown pub theatre in north London.
It’s no surprise that she landed this role, either – the musical is about the icon Marilyn Monroe, and as this photo on her Instagram shows, Melissa bears an uncanny resemblance to her…
Spooky! When she’s not playing the part of stunning stars, she has also been in a number of pantomimes, rocking the blue wig look just as much as bleach blonde:

And, having been a ballet dancer since the age of two, Melissa is currently working as a dance teacher.
As she shares much of her life on her social media accounts, we can also see pics that are a little bit more – well, body confident.
With a few obviously topless photos here and there, the days of being the little girl of the past seem truly behind her now! With nothing but dungarees to cover up, she poses with circular glasses in front of a mirror:
In another cheeky pic, she poses again with no shirt on but instead displays a hennaed hand to the camera.
Oh my! She can even be seen topless and snuggled up in bed alongside her pet cat.
As EastEnders fans will know, character Lucy Beale eventually ended up struggling with a drug addiction and having an affair with Max Branning. She was later killed off the show in 2015, after her brother Bobby Beale murdered her.
