News has broken this morning that the disgraced entertainer Rolf Harris will be released from Stafford Prison tomorrow.
Harris has been appearing by video-link at Southwark Crown Court in London, where he is standing trial accused of indecent assault.
The judge in the trial has told jurors today that Rolf Harris will be released from Stafford Prison tomorrow and would therefore appear in court in person on bail for the remainder of the trial.
The judge told jurors: ‘He (Harris) will no longer be appearing in the court via videolink and he will be attending what remains of his trial in person next week.’
Harris is standing trial accused of indecently assaulting three teenage girls in the 1970s and 1980s.
The jury had previously been told Harris had already been convicted and sentenced for other offences in 2014.
The 87-year-old was jailed in 2014 on 12 counts of indecent assault.
Earlier this month a source said Harris was “counting down the days” until his release and would rush to his sick wife’s side.
According to the Daily Mirror, who cited an anonymous source, the presenter is “desperate to get out”.
