While it still stands that nobody puts Baby in the corner, she seems to have put herself there, keeping a low profile over the years since her rise to fame in the film Dirty Dancing.
Jennifer Grey appeared in many classic 1980’s films, with her first role being in The Cotton Club before the massive hit Dirty Dancing and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
Starring alongside Patrick Swayze in Red Dawn in 1984 paved the way to the pair reuniting a few years later in Dirty Dancing – the film was about a Soviet occupation in the USA, and given the political tensions at the time, the film got pretty big.
The career-defining character of Baby Houseman in the cult hit earned Grey a Golden Globe nomination.
Although her acting career somewhat slowed down by the 1990’s, she still had some pretty great roles including Rachel’s friend Mindy in long-running sitcom Friends, and a guest role in House.
Funnily enough, she won the US series Dancing With The Stars in 2010 with her professional partner Derek Hough, and even stood in for Len Goodman as a guest judge on Strictly Come Dancing! Once you start dancing, you can’t stop!
Her father Joel Grey has won Academy, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Tony Awards for playing the Master of Ceremonies in the musical Cabaret – starring Liza Minnelli on Broadway and in the 1972 film version. He also had a variety of theatre roles in shows such as Anything Goes and Wicked, as well as a reccuing role in Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
30 years on from Dirty Dancing, Jennifer is now 57 and still looks incredible! However, she doesn’t exactly look like the Jeannie Bueller or Baby Houseman we’d all recognise in a heartbeat.
You might struggle to recognise her due to a controversial nose job she had in the early 1990’s. Jennifer blames the procedure for ruining her career as it completely changed her face!
In 2012 Grey said: “I went into the operating room a celebrity and came out anonymous.
“It was the nose job from hell. I’ll always be this once-famous actress nobody recognises because of a nose job.”
Previously, Grey has had rather high-profile relationships with Johnny Depp and her Bueller co-star Matthew Broderick.
However she’s now happy and settled with actor Clark Gregg, who has appeared as Agent Coulson in many Marvel Avengers films and in Agents of Shield.
He has previously had roles in The West Wing and The New Adventures of Old Christine.
They now have a beautiful daughter called Stella.
