12 Saturday Night TV Shows We Grew Up Watching
There’s never owt decent on TV on a Saturday night anymore. Well, okay, maybe Ant and Dec! Back in the 80’s and early 90’s Saturday was THE night for TV! Let’s have a look at some of the very best of the programmes we used to love watching.
1. ‘Allo ‘Allo
Listen very carefully; I shall say this only once…. ‘Allo ‘Allo was one of the best TV shows of the 80’s!
2. Beadle’s About
Jeremy Beadle was the king of pranks back in the 80’s.
3. Blind Date
We had a lora lora laughs with Cilla on Blind Date. Essential Saturday night viewing and then we couldn’t wait to see how they got on the week after. Tara Chuck.
4. The Generation Game
“Life is the name of the game, And I wanna play the game with you, Life can be terribly tame, If you don’t play the game with two, And I wanna play the game with you!”
5. Dad’s Army
What a way Dad’s Army was to kick off the night on a Saturday! “Who do you think you are kidding Mr Hitler.”
6. Dr Who
Dr Who was, and still is staple Saturday Night TV. Who else loved the Daleks? Exterminate! Exterminate!
7. Game for a Laugh
Who remembers Game for a Laugh in the 80’s?
8. Gladiators
We all remember Gladiators in the 90’s. Big foam hands in the crowd, Pugil sticks, oh and Jet of course!
9. The Les Dawson Show
Who remembers watching The Les Dawson Show on Saturday nights?
10. Noel’s House Party
Who else joined Noel and Mr Blobby in Crinkling Bottom every Saturday? I always wanted to grab a grand!
11. The Paul Daniels Magic Show
Saturday night didn’t get much better than watching Paul Daniels saw Debbie McGee in half!
12. You’ve Been Framed
Camcorders were the big thing in the 90’s and it enabled people to share some of their funniest moments on prime time TV!
