1.) Each month buy a gift card for the holidays

When Christmas rolls around or a month full of birthdays, it can be pretty hard parting with your cash to buy a ton of gifts. If you buy gift cards after being paid each month, you will always be prepared with a handy gift and it will feel like you’ve spent nothing!

2.) Set your phone to black and white to avoid social media

This sounds pretty weird but when your phone’s set to black and white, those red little notifications won’t distract you anywhere near as much! If you have an iPhone, here’s how to do it: Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Color Filters > then select "grayscale."

3.) Every time you find coins, put them in a jar

We all love finding dollar bills or coins in our pockets. However, before you spend it on take-out, why not save it all in a jar? At the end of the year, you’ll be amazed at how much money you’ve saved.

4.) Memorize some phone numbers for emergencies

I know we don’t need to remember phone numbers any more thanks to our clever smartphones. However, what if you don’t have your phone on you or, god forbid, it’s out of battery? Memorize those numbers people!

5.) Want to be productive? Wear sneakers!

If you wear active shoes you will be in a much more active mindset. Try wearing sneakers around the house and I BET you would get a lot more done.

6.) Reach out to an old friend

Whether it’s a co-worker, a college friend or even a family member, reconnecting with an old friend is highly rewarding. You might meet new people too!

7.) Do your dishes every night before bed

You will wake up MUCH happier in the morning to a clean kitchen and no dishes to worry about. It’ll make it much easier to throw together a wholesome breakfast as well!

If you wake up at the same time every day (even on weekends) you will sleep better! Your body will maintain a healthy sleep routine and you will be happier and less cranky.

10.) Make a list of the tasks you’ve been putting off

When you write down what you’ve been putting off, it makes it all much more manageable. As you tick each thing off, you can reward yourself in some way. A great way to get things done!

11.) Give one compliment a day

If you practice giving a compliment a day, you’ll start to feel happier that you are making people happy! As you compliment people more, you will start to notice all the wonderful things and people that surround you every day.

12.) Find a healthy and practical breakfast that you love

Eating a healthy breakfast is the perfect way to start off your day. Nourishing, easy food is delicious and quick to make. Just pick a recipe and stick to it! If you eat breakfast, you are much less likely to snack.

13.) Say ‘I get to’ instead of ‘I have to’

Tell yourself that you ‘get’ to do things rather than you ‘have’ to. It’ll make every task seem like an opportunity and you will start to feel grateful. You’ll feel happy about calling your mom or meeting your friends. You GET to do all of these wonderful things in life!

14.) Take a selfie after every awesome haircut

Take a photo when you get a haircut you love because then next time you can ensure it gets done properly! We have all been there when we’ve had a terrible haircut and never wanted to be seen again. This idea safety proofs that!

15.) Unsubscribe from those pesky emails!

We all delete those annoying emails we keep getting but what if we actually unsubscribed, imagine what a clear and happy place our inbox would be! Future you will really appreciate it.
