1. He dropped out of school
He quit school at the young age of 13 because of family problems at the time. He did however complete his school education at 42, inspiring teens and adults who want to later complete their education.
2. He’s the baby of the family
There’s actually nine children in his family!
3. He’s had a history with addiction
He became addicted to cocaine and other drugs and substances at only 13 years old.
4. He harassed an African-American child
He had a civil eviction case filed against him at 15 for two crimes – one for harassing a African-American children and the other for beating up black children on a school field trip.
5. As well as violent incidents on the streets
At 16, he attacked a Vietnamese man on the street with a wooden stick. He called the man “Vietnam fucking shit.” On the same day, he attacked another man named, Hoa “Johnny” Trinh.
6. He’s had a history of racism
According to the court’s documents on these crimes, when he was taken back to where he hit the Vietnamese man he continued to give racial comments on the person.
7. He was charged with attempted murder
The two crimes resulted in Wahlberg being charged with an attempt of murder from harming an innocent person, and was sentenced to two years in ‘Deer Island House of Correction Prison’ which existed up until 1991. He only served 45 days of the sentence, but still carried a permanent felony record.
8. He regrets his past
After becoming a famous star in 2006, he commented on his dark past, saying: “I did a lot of things that I regret, and I have certainly paid for my mistakes.”
9. He started a band… and it was bad.
Before be became a famous actor, he was the lead singer of ‘Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch’ in the early 90s. However in 1992, Rolling Stone magazine voted him as the worst male singer of the year. Ouch.
10. He left the music industry to pursue acting (thankfully)
Although his second album ‘Good Vibrations’ was actually a commercial success, we still think he was much better off as an actor!
11. He has a third nipple
In some movies he’s air brushed so that it can’t be seen, but in the film Shooter you can notice it. 1 in 18 men have one, and Mark is one of them.
12. He’s often mistaken for Matt Damon
They said that they both try to be in an excellent mood when this happens so that they don’t ruin the reputation of the other.
13. He was originally cast as Ennis del Mar in Brokeback Mountain
He however left the role which was later played by Heath Ledger. He also dropped the iconic role of Linus in Ocean’s Trilogy which was then played by Matt Damon.
14. He loves cricket
He even co-owns a cricket team called the Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League.
15. He only just escaped the 9/11 tragedy
He and his friends were scheduled to fly to Los Angeles from Boston on flight 11 on 9/11, but they changed their plans at the last minuet and decided to attend a film festival in Canada instead. The plane 11 they were supposed to be on hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
16. He’s now producing movies, too
He has produced many popular television shows like Entourage, How to Make it in America, Ballers and Boardwalk Empire. He has also produced films like Prisoners, Lone Survivor, and The Gambler.
17. He, of course, lives in a huge mansion
He owns a $8 million mansion in Beverly Hills. He bought the place in 2009 and then spent five years rebuilding it the way he wanted it. His mansion now has a water park, gym, theatre, and a plus size basketball court.
18. He is now married to Rhea Durham
They’ve had four children together and married in 2009 after dating for 8 years. Three of their children were born before they got married, and the fourth was born after.
19. He had to convince Christian Bale to be in The Fighter
He was actually the one to make the making of the movie possible as many actors and directors had walked out on the film. He worked with Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach to perfect his role, and finally, he convinced Christian Bale to play the role of his brother which got him an Oscar.
20. He’s now completely sober
He’s changed his ways since his dark childhood, and his life in Hollywood is completely different. He’s now become a respected and humble man.
