Heidi Klum – Worm

Heidi Klum has cemented her position in the Halloween Hall of Fame with an impressive portfolio of costumes displayed at the Halloween party she hosts each year. Her most horrifying entry was, without a doubt, the worm costume she wore to her 2022 bash. The costume was her most ambitious to date, taking two years of preparation to get it right.

Kim Kardashian – Mystique

Kim Kardashian is no stranger to the makeup chair, but even she must have been getting a bit fidgety by the time her Mystique look was finished. Her face was painted with the exact same shade of blue as her bodysuit, and added to with further layers of paint to get the bumpy texture of the X-Men character she was trying to replicate.

Phoebe Bridgers – Skeleton

When Phoebe Bridgers purchased a $10 skeleton onesie for a Halloween party, it’s unlikely she knew that it would become the outfit she and her band would wear for the foreseeable future. When shooting the cover photo for her second album, Punisher, Bridgers decided to slip the onesie back on for a bit of fun, creating a now iconic look, which she even built on for the 2023 Met Gala.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel – Wet Bandits

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel went as Harry and Marv, or the Wet Bandits from the Home Alone movies, to their Halloween party in 2022. Kerry Washington – Lionel Richie

Rebel Wilson – Unboxed Barbie

While you get hordes of people dressing up as Barbie for Halloween each year, you don’t often see people dressed up as Barbie in the box. Nevertheless, that is exactly what actor Rebel Wilson did for an LA Halloween party in 2022. It’s likely that the number of Barbies will skyrocket for Halloween 2023, following the release of the Greta Gerwig movie earlier this year.

Lizzo – Baby Yoda

Lizzo loves a Halloween costume, seemingly going above and beyond every single year. For her 2021 look, she went for Baby Yoda, who had become a bit of a viral internet sensation thanks to the Disney+ show. All her dress-up effort wasn’t even for a party either, the singer just went around Hollywood taking pictures with unsuspecting passers by.

Margot Robbie – Ginger Spice

Margot Robbie did a spectacular job in recreating Ginger Spice’s (Geri Halliwell) look at the peak of the Spice Girls’ fame. Robbie even jazzed up the outfit, opting for a sequinned Union Jack dress, complete with shin-high, latex boots. Her attention to detail even went as far as getting a ginger wig with the same blonde highlights as Halliwell sported in the 90s.

The Weeknd – The Nutty Professor

You have to commend the effort that The Weeknd put into his 2020 Halloween costume. He donned an unthinkable amount of prosthetics, sported an almost identical outfit, and even carried around a science flask to accurately recreate Eddie Murphy’s character, Sherman Klump from the movie The Nutty Professor.

Alex Turner and Arielle Vandenberg – Florence + The Machine

Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner and his then-girlfriend Arielle Vandenberg turned up to a Halloween party in 2012 paying a playful tribute to fellow English musician Florence Welch, of Florence and The Machine fame. This involved Turner slipping into a makeshift washing machine, complete with a bottle of detergent on top.

Heidi Klum – Creepy Alien

Heidi Klum went mad on the prosthetics once again for her 2019 Halloween party. Her full-body alien/zombie suit turned her into her usual unrecognizable self, with metal coming out of various parts of her body and spikes on her back that looked certain to fail any risk assessments. Hopefully she didn’t trip!

LeBron James – Edward Scissorhands

LeBron James’ Edward Scissorhands costume was immaculate, managing to make the 6’9″ world-famous basketball star completely unrecognizable. Whether he kept the blades and scissors on his hands throughout the duration of the party is unknown, but it would have made handshakes an awkward affair.

Gigi Hadid – The Mask

The Mask is a popular costume around Halloween, as it is creepy enough to fit right into the mood of the night, but also cool enough to help you stand out from all the ghosts and skeletons. Gigi Hadid certainly pulled it off, with a full face of green makeup and an immaculately fitting yellow suit.

Steph Curry and family – Toy Story cast

Basketballer Steph Curry made his Halloween outfit into a family affair, with his family all dressing up as various members of the Toy Story gang. Curry went for Buzz Lightyear, his wife Ayesha opted for Gabby Gabby, and the kids dressed up as Bo Peep, Woody, and Jessie.

Andy Cohen – Snoopy

Television presenter Andy Cohen matched up with his baby to create one of the cutest Halloween pairings of 2019. Ciara and Russell Wilson – The Carters

Ciara and Russell Wilson decided to pay homage to one of music’s most famous couples, The Carters. They drew inspiration from Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s music video for APESH*T, wearing identical pink and mint green suits. Just to make sure costume didn’t go over a single person’s head, they took pictures that looked identical to a couple of scenes in the music video.

Jennifer Garner – Mailbox

Jennifer Garner made a point of not wearing anything revealing for her 2019 Halloween costume, opting to dress up as a mail box. In the caption accompanying her Instagram post, she let her fans known that she would always choose something funny over something sexy.

Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz – Fireworks

By Heidi Klum’s standards, her and her husband Tom Kaulitz’s 2019 fireworks costumes may appear a little tame. They were covered head to toe in glitter, but there were no outrageous prosthetics on display that night. To be fair though, this was for just one of the multiple Halloween parties that Klum attended in 2019, and it was still extravagant by most people’s standards.

Rita Ora – Post Malone

It has to be said that Rita Ora did a fantastic job when putting together her Post Malone costume for Halloween 2018. She not only nailed the outfit, but also added the wig, face tattoos, and a bottle of Bud Light to the ensemble. All in all, it came out almost scarily believable.

Harry Styles – Elton John

Harry Styles paid the perfect tribute to Elton John at a 2018 Halloween party, dressing in an almost exact replica of the glittery baseball outfit Elton wore for his 1975 gig at the Dodgers Stadium. Maybe it was this outfit that prompted Styles’ deeper exploration of the fashion world?

Hoda Kotb – Elton John

Harry Styles isn’t the only celebrity to dip into one of Elton John’s many costumes. American journalist Hoda Kotb went for one of Elton’s more angelic pieces, a white suit adorned with bright white feathers. Kotb even sat down by a piano outside her TV studio to give the full Elton effect.

Victoria Justice – Ouija Board

Actor and singer Victoria Justice decided to turn up to a Halloween party in 2018 dressed as an Ouija board. Not in the same way Jennifer Garner did with her mailbox, but instead having all the components drawn on her with an eyeliner pen. It either took a long time in front of the mirror, or Justice had a makeup artist do it for her. Either way, it looked great.

Joe Jonas – Sansa Stark

Joe Jonas kept his 2019 outfit relevant to his family, dressing up as his then-wife Sophie Turner’s character in Game of Thrones, Sansa Stark. Jonas played it off quite well, although he could have shaved off his beard for added realism. What did Turner dress as to match? An elephant, of course!

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel – Lego people

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel went all out for their 2018 Halloween costumes. They both had full-body Lego man suits on, with legs, arms, and hands included. They also dressed up their son as a little Lego Batman, making the costumes a full family affair.

Mel B – Victoria Beckham

Melanie Brown, otherwise known as Mel B or Scary Spice, turned up to a 2018 Halloween party dressed as her former bandmate Victoria Beckham. She didn’t go overboard with make-up or prosthetics, instead just putting on a paper mask of Victoria’s face, but she did have a sign with her saying ‘No I am not going on tour.’ This is a reference to Victoria Beckham’s refusal to join the Spice Girls’ 2019 tour.

Heidi Klum – Teen Wolf

Back to Heidi Klum now, and her 2017 Teen Wolf outfit. This outfit, on paper, is the easiest to find the clothes for, requiring jeans, loafers, and a varsity jacket. However, it’s the prosthetics that take this to the next level. Klum didn’t just opt for a face mask, but a prosthetic that covered the entire upper half of her body, including her arms and hands.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom – The Clintons

2016 was an election year, meaning some celebrities saw it as an opportunity to get their political views across. Katy Perry decided to go dressed as Hillary Clinton, whom Perry was endorsing for presidency. Her husband Orlando Bloom went as Bill, with both celebrities looking creepily similar to the characters they were trying to represent.

Chrissy Teigen – Guy Fieri

Heidi Klum – Fiona from Shrek

Cindy Crawford – Flight attendant

Cindy Crawford turned up to her Halloween party in 2018 in full 1960s flight attendant gear, complete with a big red wig and shiny white boots. To complete the look, she roped in her husband Rande Gerber, and George Clooney, who dressed up as airplane captains.

Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber – Slash and Axl Rose

Model Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber dressed up as the unmistakable rockstar-duo, Slash and Axl Rose for a Halloween party in 2013. Crawford did an excellent Slash, replicating his curly black hair and, of course, donning the guitarist’s trademark top hat.

Rihanna – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle

To pull off her Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume, Rihanna painted every visible part of her body green, in addition to carrying around a turtle shell on her back for the entire Halloween night in 2014. She did add a little Rihanna flair to the outfit though, donning bright red lipstick and false eyelashes.

Emily Ratajkowski – Marge Simpson

Emily Ratajkowski painted a good 90% of her body yellow in order to accurately portray Marge Simpson at Heidi Klum’s 2015 Halloween bash. She also nailed Marge’s outfit, with a red bead necklace and bright red shoes. A committed effort, for sure, and one that made her instantly recognisable.

Lizzo – Marge Simpson

Lizzo also attempted to replicate the iconic look of Marge Simpson. Her skin paint job was far more consistent and strong than Emily Ratajkowski’s, and she decided to jazz up Marge’s green dress and make it sparkly. The shimmer was a bit of artistic license, but there’s no denying that the glitter does compliment the outfit.

Alexa Chung – Mermaid

Alexa Chung’s 2018 mermaid outfit is a perfect example of what you can do when you need to throw a Halloween costume together last minute. A long, flowing green skirt, a bikini top, and a pink wig were all that Chung needed in 2018 to create a perfect mermaid look.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend – Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip

For Halloween in 2018, Chrissy Teigen roped in her husband John Legend for an accurate and adorable couple’s outfit. They depicted the former monarch Elizabeth II and her husband Philip, wearing almost exact replicas of the outfits often worn by the royal couple.

Winnie Harlow – RuPaul

The model Winnie Harlow pulled off RuPaul’s famous look at Heidi Klum’s Halloween party in 2018. Shiny red thigh-high boots, a very small red corset, and a HUGE blonde wig made up the outfit. It was an impressive look that was highly topical in popular culture at the time.

Kendall Jenner – Cucumber

Kendall Jenner was widely mocked for her inability to cut a cucumber in Keeping Up With The Kardashians. In 2022, she decided to poke fun at herself by dressing up as a slice of cucumber, while carrying what was likely a plastic knife. At least, we hope it was plastic.

Harry Styles – Dorothy

Harry Styles continued to go against gender norms for his Harryween event at Madison Square Garden in 2021. Of course, this Dorothy dress was not a shop-bought costume but instead designed and tailored exactly for Styles by Alessandro Michele of Gucci. That definitely beats buying off the rack!

Heidi Klum – Jessica Rabbit

We started the list with Heidi Klum, and we will end it with Heidi Klum. This time with the Jessica Rabbit costume she wore to her own Halloween party in 2015. She wore face prosthetics and breast prosthetics in order to perfectly pull off the cartoon character’s famous look, and she did so amazingly.
