BMW Owners Have Been Voted The Rudest On The Roads

Do you know someone who drives a BMW? If so, they won’t be happy to find out exactly what other motorists really think of them.

And if you own one yourself… Well, we’re sorry. You might want to sit down.

A recent survey has revealed that BMW owners are considered the rudest drivers, officially.

Over half of the motorist participants – that’s 56% if we’re being exact – admitted that they thought people who drove a BMW M3 were downright awful people.

In second place came Range Rover owners, who gained 48% of the vote. Audi TT drivers were considered the third worst human beings, with a 43% vote.

And let’s admit it, we’ve all given a funny look to a Ford Transit van at some point in our lives – drivers of the white van were given 36% of the vote, placing them as the fifth rudest road user.

The comments, on the other hand, were full of people saying that they thought Ford Transit drivers should have been placed at number one.

But it’s not over for BMW drivers yet. They’ll recoil when they hear the words used against them only a month ago: ‘holier-than-thou Prius drivers’, ‘reckless Subaru boy-racers’ and ‘smarmy businessmen’ were some of the choice phrases fellow road users chose to describe them.

A study on One Poll brought to light that while judgemental road users will be fast on the buzzer to assume the personality traits of drivers they don’t know, only one in six of them actually think they fit in with the stereotypes associated with their own vehicles.

Having commissioned the study, spokesman for Vantage Leasing, James Buttrick, had this to say after viewing the results and feedback:

“Whether accurate or not, the type of car we drive is seen to portray a great deal about our personality on the roads.

“The next time you find yourself in need of a new car, it might be worth considering the stereotype associated with each brand before making your final decision.”

It might sound like a ridiculous suggestion, since we can’t all hold back from doing the things we want just because of a little judgement.

But the judgement has been proven to exist, so you’ll have to do with this information what you will.

What do you think? Are BMW owners the worst drivers in your books? Do you own a BMW? Is any of this at all accurate? Let us know your thoughts in the COMMENTS!
