Can’t decide whether to order a burger or a roast dinner? Well, now you can have both!
Thanks to Michael Hewitt, manager of the Smokehouse BBQ restaurant in Wakefield, Yorkshire there is a beast of a burger that combines the two.
The Yorkie Pud burger is a part of the Smokehouse BBQ’s food challenge, in which so far every contender has failed.
The monster meal is estimated at a whopping 5000 calories, twice the daily intake for a fully-grown male. The burger is made from two 20oz burger patties and 2lbs worth of diced chicken breast, which sits a top a mountain of chips smothered in mozzarella cheese and gravy. The whole thing is then sandwiced between two giant Yorkshire puddings the size of large dinner plates, and comes with a free milkshake on the side. At just £25, that sounds like a bargain to us!
If a competitor ever manages to handle all of that food, which must be consumed within 30 minutes, they then earn a place on the restaurant’s wall of fame, as well as a free T-shirt and their meal comped.
The creator claims the behemoth burger is “ a fusion of the common man’s cuisine”. He wanted to bring the old Sunday roast and American cuisine together, and hence the Yorkie Pud burger was born.
“We joined American cuisine – the burger – with the quintessentially British Yorkshire pudding, the most British of dishes other than fish and chips. It’s almost like a Sunday roast in a burger.”
So, do you think you can handle it?
