The lookalike was spotted by The New York Library in a photo from 1939. They subsequently shared the image to their Tumblr after noticing the resemblance. The photo was taken by street photographer Sid Grossman and was titled ‘Harlem Loiterers.’ As Jay-Z also grew up in New York, many theorized that the man in the photo could be a relative.

Band on the Wall is a live music venue which opened in 1862. The venue was very popular with soldiers during World War II, which is likely when the image was taken.
