Guy Demands Woman Pay Him Back For Drink Because She Didn't Sleep With Him

It's a tale as old as time, a song as old as rhyme, do you "owe" someone "something" if they buy you a drink? The conclusion of that particular tale is super short and simple; no. No, you don't "owe" a freakin' THING to someone who offers to buy you a drink. Unfortunately, some people don't get that!

Chlo Matthews, a 20-year-old student paramedic certainly learned that the hard way!

When Matthews was out partying with some friends she hit it off with (what she presumed to be) a nice young chap! He bought her a drink, they exchanged phone numbers and went their merry separate ways.

Which, in retrospect, Matthews is probably freakin' chuffed about!

The 'nice gentleman' Matthews had been so fortunate (unfortunate!) enough to share a drink with had a less than desirable response to Matthews follow-up the next day.

The man, known only as Danny, voiced his expectation to be refunded for the drink he had bought Matthews, the reason?

Well. Just read it for yourself...

The mind BOGGLES.

Heaven forfend he let her know it was lovely to meet her?!

Even if he wasn't pleased to know her, and really did feel just SO deprived having spent a small amount on a drink for the lady, why not just explain that money was tight and he would appreciate a contribution from her?

BUT EVEN THEN.

DON'T BUY PEOPLE STUFF YOU CAN'T AFFORD.

DON'T BUY PEOPLE STUFF WITH THE ASSUMPTION THEY WILL HAVE INTERCOURSE WITH YOU IF YOU DO.

HOW IS THIS EVEN UP FOR DEBATE?

HOW DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?

Anyway, so now that I've calmed down... momentarily...

Chlo claims she's been put off the dating game somewhat and who can freakin' blame her?!

I really do feel for young women these days who are made to feel they're worth the measly cost of a vodka and coke. You girls are amazing and cannot be bought, don't let fools convince you otherwise!

With a whopping ten thousand retweets (or "shares" as old fogies like me will understand them!) it's fair to say Chlo's tweet struck a nerve with a pretty big community!

People shared their thoughts on Twitter, saying;

Others started scheming for revenge...

This is my kind of guy! I hope Matthews followed this advice!

Thankfully, Matthews revealed what she did... NOTHING.

GOOD.

Whilst the Tweets replying to this story are pretty amusing and Matthews herself took a light-hearted approach to the event, there's definitely some darker undertones to this...

The idea that a man thinks a woman "owes" him something because he bought her a drink is just BEYOND me. It's dangerous for men to feel they're entitled to a woman's body for a couple of dollars.

Offering someone a drink is a favor and favors don't require repayment of any kind!

Sure, I'm a big advocate of returning favors by buying the person their own drink with your money but even then, you're under no obligation

I really do worry for young women today trying to find love with such arrogant, obnoxious men who think a human being can be bought with cheap spirits and cheap mixers.

Walt could buy me a palace (and I wish he freakin' would! HINT. HINT.) and he still wouldn't own me. That's how respect works!

This young lady is gorgeous, educated and funny. She can do SO much better than some weirdo who demands money back for not being allowed to take her home to what is, doubtless, a seriously messy bedroom that his Mom still cleans.

I hope she doesn't stop going out to party though! Go and enjoy yourself gal!

Have you had a similar experience to Chlo's? Do you think there IS an etiquette to buying/receiving drinks when dating? Let me know in the comments! And be sure to share this with your friends and family! AAx
