Dominic Purcell then

Originally born in England but raised in Australia, Dominic Purcell played wrongly convicted death row inmate Lincoln Burrows in Prison Break. Purcell’s character arc followed his fight to clear his name and him rebuilding his relationship with his estranged son. For his work on Prison Break, in 2007 Purcell won the AATCA Award for Best Actor, an Australian award comparable to the Oscars.

After Prison Break finished its initial run in 2009, it returned for a one-off season six in 2017. Purcell would mainly find success in The Flash and its various CW spin-offs, playing the character of Heat Wave. Purcell married Tish Cyrus, mother of singer Miley and ex-wife of Billy Ray, in a ceremony in Malibu in 2023.

Robert Knepper then

Robert Knepper played what many consider to be one of TV’s greatest bad guys, Theodore ‘T-Bag’ Bagwell. An enemy of Miller’s Scofield from the off, T-Bag’s manipulative ways ensure he is a constant foil for his plans. The character of T-Bag was one with a predatory sexual appetite, with no particular care for the age or gender of his victims.

Robert Knepper now

Knepper would go on to star in Heroes and Stargate Universe after Prison Break. The actor faced controversy in 2017, however, after former co-star Susan Bertram accused Knepper of sexual assault on the set of the film Gas Food Lodging in 1991. Knepper denied the claims, along with additional allegations that were made by four other women. Knepper has one son, from his first marriage to Tory Herald. He married second wife Nadine Kary in 2013.

Robin Tunney then

Robin Tunney played Veronica Donovan in Prison Break, the ex-girlfriend of imprisoned Lincoln Burrows and trial lawyer to Michael Scofield. Campaigning for the release of Burrows, Donovan runs afoul of rouge secret service agents, and they shoot her dead. Tunney’s character is the first main character to be killed off in the series.

After Prison Break, Tunney would go on to star in her longest running acting job to date, as Teresa Lisbon in The Mentalist. Tunney would finish runner-up in 2006’s Celebrity Poker Showdown, where her $200,000 winnings were donated to The Children’s Health Fund. She has two children with furniture designer Nicky Marmet, whom she married in 2012.

Wentworth Miller then

Wentworth Miller played Prison Break’s lead character, Michael Scofield. A creative genius, Scofield intentionally gets sent to prison in order to free his brother for a crime he didn’t commit. Miller’s character had a full torso tattoo, into which he had integrated the prison’s blueprints to aid in an escape attempt. Miller noted in interviews, the tattoo took five hours to apply each time.

Wentworth Miller now

Miller featured in two Mariah Carey music videos while filming Prison Break in 2005, It’s Like That and We Belong Together. He would join the cast of The Flash in 2014, reuniting him with his Prison Break co-star, Dominic Purcell. Miller came out as gay in 2013 and announced in 2020 that he would no longer play any straight roles going forward.

Sarah Wayne Callies then

Callies had worked on Law and Order before landing the role of Sara Tancredi on Prison Break in 2005. Her character was a doctor and eventual love interest of Miller’s Michael Scofield. Although gruesomely killed off in the third series, with her decapitated head being discovered in a box, the character returned for season four. The decision to kill the character came after a pay dispute with Callies.

Sarah Wayne Callies now

Callies would go on to star as Lori Grimes in The Walking Dead in 2010, a role far surpassing her Prison Break work in terms of success. An actress who likes to keep her private life away from the press, Callies married her long-term partner Josh Winterhalt in 2002. They welcomed a daughter in 2007 and adopted a son in 2013.
