YouTube first opened its digital doors in 2005, with the first video ever posted to the site entitled "me at the zoo", which is as enthralling as it sounds. Since then, the platform has developed into one of the most popular sites across the globe and has introduced us to many of our favourite stars. The most famous YouTubers have amassed millions of views, with the Swedish controversialist PewDiePie being the most-followed with over 104 million subscribers. Several individuals who started off as YouTubers have gone on to enjoy successful careers in other fields such as acting and singing; now, mainstream entertainers are flocking to YouTube to expand their followings and experiment with new projects.
