Auf Wiedersehen Pet was the only thing we wanted to watch back in the 80s – and luckily for us, it carried on running all the way up until 2004. Yep, it really was that long ago. We feel old too.
Everyone who watched the show misses our seven construction worker boys who were living and working on that building in Düsseldorf.
We eagerly awaited the return of the series after it took a break in 1986, and rejoiced when it finally returned in 2002. And we loved all of the specials and that one hilarious Comic Relief sketch, of course.
Let’s just remind ourselves of that real quick:
Just as amazing as we remembered!
So now, to get you nicely warmed up for the quiz, here are some facts you probably didn’t know about our beloved show…
For example, did you know that a lot of the scenes in the second series – where the show was supposed to be set in Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Derbyshire, and even once in Spain – were actually filmed in Nottingham?
Who knew one place could be so versatile!
Fans of Eastenders will love this fact: the Albert Square you know and love was actually also the building site from Auf Wiedersehen Pet – even though the show is set in Germany, the site is in Hertfordshire in Elstree Studios.
Who’d have thought it?
And finally: did you know that despite the name of the show being what it is, the phrase “Auf wiedersehen, pet” was only ever used as the last line of the very last episode. Which makes it even more heartbreaking if you ask us!
Whilst you might not have been able to answer questions about rarely known trivia like that, you’ll probably be able to have a go at this little quiz.
Especially now your nostalgia senses have been tickled!
So now is the perfect time for fans of this unforgettable British comedy drama to kick back, relax, and take a virtual walk down memory lane. Why not test yourself and see how many of these Auf Wiedersehen Pet questions you can get right – it is ever so slightly tricky depending on how good your memory is, you have been warned!
