How Much Do You Really Remember About The “Home Alone” Films?

Here’s a quiz to test your knowledge of the Home Alone films – 1, 2, 3, and 4!

The original was a coming of age story that captured all of our hearts and, of course, is one of our favourite movies to curl up and watch at Christmas time. This is even more evident as we’re reminded of the family comedy every time we go out and see someone in one of those classic jumpers sporting the phrase “MERRY CHRISTMAS, YA FILTHY ANIMAL”.

Here are three pieces of behind-the-scenes trivia to begin with, so you’re nicely warmed up for the quiz:

1. Did you know that the character Kevin was specifically written for his actor, Macaulay Culkin? Despite this, director Chris Columbus still auditioned 100 other pre-teens hoping to get the part. But of course, Culkin came up tops – and really, what else was anyone expecting?

2. Home Alone appears in the Guinness World Records as the highest grossing live-action comedy. Overall, the movie made $17, 081, 997 in the opening weekend, after being shown in 1202 theatres. For the following 12 weeks, it held the number one title and was still in the top ten until June the year after.

3.  671 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, Illinois – otherwise known as the McCallister house seen in the film – has since become an incredibly popular tourist attraction. In fact, the previous owners of the home (John and Cynthia Abendshien) managed to sell the property for a whopping $1.585 million.

Kevin McCallister will always be the iconic Scream-like face we all know and love, but now you can find out just how well you actually remember the films. Grab your popcorn and get ready to want to binge watch the entire thing!
