There are a few things in life that we can't help but worry about, but one of life's main concerns somehow always ends up being relationships. When we're not in love, most of us spend time obsessing about how we could we: should we try online dating, should we be going out more to meet people, should we let our friends set us up with people they think we're suited to?

Even once we fall into a relationship, it's hard to stop worrying. At first, we worry about letting our guard down around the other person, about meeting their parents for the first time or them seeing us without make-up in the morning. Then we worry about whether we're meeting all the right milestones: when it's time to say "I love you", when we should ask them to move in with us, and whether or not we should be considering marriage, or a puppy, or a baby.

Most of all though, many of us spend time worrying about how our relationships are going to end. Whether we'll grow old together and get matching rocking chairs, with a sprawling network of children and grandchildren to look after us. Whether we'll make it to the next Valentine's Day or anniversary. Whether there is someone out there who is better for us, and if they'll still be there if we decide to take the plunge and keep looking.
