Pictures are the way that we store memories for a lifetime. Every day, we click new pictures on our smartphones that we know are going to become nostalgic objects in our golden years. However, when a moment is captured on film, we are not always certain of what all information is being stored in them.
Sometimes there are a few details that are there in the pictures that we see only when we take a second look at them closely. Here are some of these pictures that are not quite what they seem at the first glance.
A Giant Group Hug
There are not many things in the world wholesome than a picture of happy children. At first glance, this image looks like a group of children enjoying each other’s company. However, when you give it a closer look, something seems off.
For starters, the tallest child in the middle looks to have extra long arms, incorporating all the smaller-sized children into their embrace. But, the reality is that the hand on the left side belongs to the kid that is second from the left in line. Either way, this image looks like one giant group hug!
The World’s Longest Golden Retriever
You can’t go wrong with a golden retriever. They are playful pups, always kind and looking for their next adventure. But what about a giant golden retriever? If you glance at this picture, it appears that one extra-long dog is being photographed.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this dog is not a new, giant canine breed but instead two golden retrievers going for a walk together. Talk about disappointment. If this indeed was one extra-long dog, Clifford the Big Red Dog might have had some friendly competition!
Camouflage
Talk about blending in! Taking a close look, anyone could see that this woman is standing with one hand behind her head and her other is holding a brown paper shopping bag filled with goodies. She looks as if she is sinking into the ground. What is she standing in, quicksand?
In reality, this freaky image could be attributed to a wacky coincidence. The woman’s leggings resemble the pattern on the tile floor she is standing on. That is why she looks like she doesn’t have legs and is floating in mid-air. Who would’ve guessed?
Fin-Five!
Probably one of the most remarkable images to grace this list, here is what looks like a man high fiving a shark. Of course, any reasonable person would question everything about this photograph, especially since sharks are predators and would typically prey on humans close to them.
Not only that, the fact there was a photographer around to capture this moment on camera is mind-blowing. Every unlikely coincidence would have had to line up for this photograph to have been taken if it is real, of course. Who knows, maybe this masterpiece is the work of photoshop.
Taking A Whiff
When it comes to a strange photograph, perspective can be the main culprit. Depending on the angle at which a picture is taken, the scene’s reality could differ from what the image is displaying. Take this particular image, for example, these two lovely ladies are by the water, and the woman on the left’s hair is blowing backward.
Because this picture was taken at an angle, it looks as if the other woman is taking a strong whiff of her friend’s locks and breathing it in. However, this is most probably not the case, and the ladies are both soaking in their beautiful surroundings. On the other hand, who knows, maybe she is sniffing her friend’s hair. Either way, nobody is judging here!
New Phone Who Dis
There is no denying that birds are more brilliant creatures than we think. Even if this bird were using an iPhone, some people would not even do a double-take. With all of the conspiracy theories featuring birds, who knows what people believe they are capable of.
The reality of this well-timed photograph is that a hawk found a ledge among the skyscrapers. A man happened to be on the other side of the ledge behind the glass and took full of advantage of the opportunity to capture a beautiful picture. The man positioned himself perfectly on his end of the glass to make it look like the wild bird was texting. Imagine that!
New Hair-Do
Spiders are some of the most terrifying creatures in existence. Sure, some of them might be small, but some of them are larger and that much scarier. At first, looking at this image, you might not see anything wrong. This girl just appears to be enjoying her time in the Amazon rainforest.
Yet, if you take a closer look, you can see that there is, in fact, a spider in this girl’s hair. Don’t fret. The girl looks as calm as she has ever been. Maybe the spider is harmless. The creature blends in with her hair perfectly and makes for a great photo opportunity. This girl is a brave soul, that’s for sure.
Giant Grasshopper
This image looks like it is straight out of a sci-fi movie. From the looks of it, a giant grasshopper is destroying a local town. However, there is more to the story than what meets the eye. In reality, his grasshopper is on the windshield of a car.
The driver or the passenger of this vehicle saw the perfect photo opportunity and took it. Who knows, maybe one day we will see a movie about a giant grasshopper on the big screen one day. If so, we’ll know exactly where the idea came from.
Levitating!
A family fishing trip turned weird! Here we have what looks to be a father catching some fish with his kiddos. At first, anyone viewing this image would think nothing of it and see it as a wholesome father and kid’s fishing trip.
However, the man’s bathing suit blends right in with the bright blue water, and it looks as if his torso is floating. Of course, his shorts are to blame for this optical illusion, and it seems as if the man is on his knees posing for the picture, so perhaps his legs are behind his body. Regardless, this picture is one for the ages.
Stork Baby
More often than not, parents smooth over what otherwise might be an uncomfortable topic and tell their children that they come from storks. However, in this particular instance, there is photographic evidence to support this conclusion in this specific instance, so why would a child believe anything different?
An adorable baby was thrown into the air in this perfectly timed photograph. At the same time, a stork happened to fly over the said baby. These parents could run with this story, and cheesy stork jokes forever with this picture at hand, and rightfully so.
Pup Cup
This picture depicts the reality of waiting in a long coffee drive-thru line. People patiently wait to receive their precious cargo, the coffee, to help them get through their days and look for anything to keep them entertained.
Here we have a barista handing someone who has a dog in the car their coffee. At first glance, it looks as if the dog has a human hand grasping for the coffee. However, we know better and can attest that a human in the car needs that cup of joe much more than a dog ever would. After all, have you ever heard of a pup drinking coffee? Yeah, me neither.
Cool Cat
If there is anything in the world that pet owners and animal lovers enjoy, it is taking selfies with their pets and animal pals. Selfies with pets are adorable and are always trendy on social media. This white cat pictured looks a little more frightening than your average kitten.
For starters, the leather couch behind the girl in the picture resembles a flashy leather jacket. This cool cat looks as if they are ready to hop on its motorcycle and go out on the town at any given moment. Who knows, some cats are tricky, and maybe this furry feline is a rebel at heart, just as the image depicts.
Transparent Van
Vans are known for being roomy vehicles. This is because you can fit much more stuff and many more people in a van than you can in an ordinary car. Yet, the picture at hand might be exaggerating how much can fit into one of these vans.
It seems incredibly unlikely that seven people would fit in the back. Not only that, the ability to see through sheet metal is impossible unless you have x-ray vision, among other magical powers. Despite all of this, the reflection is remarkable and certainly does make it look like a reality. Impressive!
Picture In Picture
The holiday season is the perfect time to gather with loved ones and take family photos. Taking a look at this particular photo, it looks like your ordinary annual Christmas family photo. However, the image is much more peculiar than that.
If you examine the image closely, you’ll see the painting on the wall in the background, which looks like it has a man’s head in the corner. But, if you look even longer, you’ll realize that the man’s head if not actually on the canvas, and he is part of the family photo. Imagine if he were part of the painting, this would surely be a ‘picture-picture’ moment.
Bird Invasion
Pigeons are pesky birds that always seem to be in everyone’s way, even at their reasonably small size. But, imagine if pigeons were giant, or at least the same size as people? That would be quite a feat.
In this picture, two pigeons are perched on a ledge. However, looking from the angle that this photograph was taken, it appears as if the pigeons are much more massive than they are and frantically searching for their parked cars. Hopefully, these birds would be as good at driving as they are flying!

Picture this: a woman attending a gathering with her friends walks up to a bar and orders a drink. A burly bartender makes her cocktail, and the two stand across from each other. The bottom of the bar contains a mirrored surface, so the woman’s legs are being reflected.
If anyone were an observer of this situation, they would see that it looks as if the woman’s long, skinny legs belong to the bartender. The best part about this image is that neither party involved had any idea this was the case, and it was just a funny feat for those around them.
A Cry For Help
Being a teacher is not the easiest job in the world, let alone being a substitute teacher. Kids of all ages can get rowdy and unruly, and some are more respectful than others. This image, in particular, conveys the struggle of all teachers perfectly as this man looks uneasy and is looking down at his laptop.
He probably has no idea since he cannot physically see himself, but the word ‘help’ is projected across his forehead. Hopefully, the poor guy gets the help he needs and gets out of that classroom. He has help written all over his face.

This is a classic example of a playful kitten ending up where they don’t belong. However, this one makes for a hysterical image that their owner can cherish forever. Abercrombie and Fitch’s bags are easy to look at since they have models on them. But, have you ever had one look back at you? This feline’s head is in the perfect place to complete the image on the bag.
Not only that, they are staring forward with such alertness that anyone would do a double-take. So maybe Abercrombie and Fitch should take some notes and incorporate cats into the future of their shopping bags.

Looking at this image, there are so many questions left unanswered. Is this a man with a dog’s head? Or is this a dog with a human body growing out of its neck?
The angle at which this snapshot was taken leaves a lot up to the imagination. If you want to think it’s a man’s body with a pup’s head, go for it. If you want to believe that this is a dog with a human body growing out of it, to each, their own. It is all about perspective.
Double Trouble
Something that many people are unaware of is that coffee shops have mirrors all over the place. Mirrors are meant to enhance a small space, making it look and feel bigger than it truly is. However, in the case of this coffee shop, there is not a mirror to be found.
These sets of women probably assumed they were next to a reflective pane of glass. But really, they were sitting beside another pair of women that looks just like them. What are the odds of that? They’re probably just as surprised as we are!

Horse girls are people whose lives revolve entirely around horses. They are usually teenagers or pre-teens that don’t care about the trends and spend most of their time riding or preparing to ride horses. But, we have a different kind of horse girl in this image.
It appears as if a horse’s head is placed on a girl’s body and even has a hairstyle to match. But, in reality, this is just a regular horse girl with her horse. The girl’s head is just turned at the right angle that it looks as if her face is that of the horse. Talk about a coincidence!

For some odd reason, people love taking pictures in front of the water. So whether it be a lake, river, waterfall, or even something as simple as a fountain, people will run for any photo opportunity in front of water they can get.
For instance, in this image, this lady is taking her picture in front of an ordinary fountain. But, what makes this picture less ordinary is what is happening in the background. It looks as if the man walking behind the fountain is wearing the water as a wedding dress. Congratulations to the happy couple!
Shirt Face Man
People have always carried mixed opinions about shopping. Some people look forward to it and shop til they drop, whereas others dislike it and avoid it like the plague. Regardless, it is not every day someone finds themselves browsing a store and snaps a picture of a random clothing rack.
But, once you look at the collection of red shirts, everything makes sense. Specifically, the sleeves on the red shirts make it appear like a face watching over the floor below. This is kind of spooky if you think about it.
The Sky Is Falling
Taking this image at face value without looking deeper seems like the end of the world. The raccoon and his animal friend should take cover before a disaster, aka that giant rock that appears to be heading their way, hits them, literally.
Thankfully, the reality of this picture shows that these animals are not in harm’s way. The raccoon and fellow animal are by a bed of water, and the rock is sitting at the surface of the body of water. Phew, that could have been a close one!
The Newest iPhone
The items displayed in this image make for a fun evening. A glass of wine, a deck of cards, and an iPhone on a glass table? What would make the night better? But, just like all of the pictures on this list, everything here is not quite what meets the eye.
At first glance, everything appears normal. However, when you take a second look, the iPhone looks small, especially by today’s standards when phone sizes keep increasing. However, the perspective of this image is producing this optical illusion. The phone is actually on the floor next to the woman’s foot. Who knew?
Flying Trash
Happy trash day! Every week, or sometimes twice a week, people place their trash in front of their homes for sanitation to come and take it away. However, while trash days are a common occurrence, It’s not every day that you see a trash can floating in mid-air.
Unfortunately, to those who thought that this trash can was defying the laws of gravity, the reality is it is stationed perfectly on a flat surface. The dark spot under the can makes it look like it is floating, but the truth is that is probably a puddle or patch of mud next to it. Maybe someday we will live in a futuristic society with floating trash cans, who knows!

Some of the cutest pictures in existence are those of cute animals. People cannot resist a wholesome animal photo and with good reason. Whether it be domestic animals like dogs or cats or wild animals like foxes or raccoons, everyone loves animals.
Coatis are some of the cutest animals around, so obviously, this person took a picture. In addition, if you look at the group from a certain angle, they look like a herd of dinosaurs. So who knows, maybe they could be the star of the next dinosaur-themed motion picture!

Sometimes there is news so crucial or life-threatening for viewers to know that journalists wish they could just project their news broadcast into the sky. This image looks as if this simple dream has become a reality.
Taking a closer look, it seems as if this broadcast is a reflection of what someone is watching inside the comfort of their own home. With that being said, journalists have to go back to the drawing board to find more immediate ways of getting the news out there to the public. Surely they will come up with something!

The newspaper picture must have some noteworthy content if the man and woman pictures are looking intently at the page’s details. But, that still does not explain who is sitting in the bright red armchair.
At first glance, it appears that the man in the image is the one standing up and taking a look at the article from behind. But, the more you look at the snapshot, you realize that the woman is the one leaning over to read and embrace the man from behind. What a plot twist!
Cruisin’
Cruise lovers tired of the same, old boring routes to tropical paradises finally have another mode of transportation to take advantage of. Here we have a giant cruise ship fitting perfectly onto the back of a flatbed truck.
Not only could passengers enjoy the ship’s amenities like fancy restaurants and lavish outdoor pools, but they could also see destinations that are only reachable via land travel. Or not, just kidding! This cruise ship is not perched on the flatbed. It is in the water behind it. How disappointing!
