Britney Spears and Jason Alexander – 55 hours

In January 2004, childhood friends Britney Spears and Jason Alexander wed in a simple ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. Both wore jeans, and Britney even donned a trucker hat for the occasion. Shortly after the impulsive marriage, the pop star’s team annulled the union, claiming she “lacked understanding of her actions.” Spears herself referred to the incident as “me being silly, being rebellious” before going on to marry Kevin Federline later that year (they split in 2007). In 2022, Alexander was arrested for attempting to crash Spears’ wedding to third husband Sam Asghari.

Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman – 9 days

When famed basketball player Dennis Rodman met singer, model, actress and dancer Carmen Electra in Los Angeles in 1998, the two 90s superstars quickly fell in love. That November, the two were married at the Chapel of Flowers in Las Vegas. Sadly, nine days later, Rodman filed for an annulment of his quickie marriage, citing that he had been of unsound mind at the time.

Dennis Hopper and Michelle Phillips – 8 days

Actor Dennis Hopper married singer Michelle Phillips on October 31, 1970 – and their marriage only lasted eight days. The couple met on the set of The Last Movie in Peru in 1970; Hopper was the lead actor and director, whilst Phillips had a minor supporting role. In 2007, Phillips told Vanity Fair that the breakup was “excruciating.” The reason for their divorce has never been confirmed. The Daily Mail reported that Hopper was “so stoned” the morning after his wedding that he didn’t recognize his new wife, but Phillips has never confirmed this story.

Nicolas Cage and Erika Koike – 4 days

Nicolas Cage is one of Hollywood’s most famous actors, so it’s no surprise that people want to know who he’s dating. Although he has kept most of his relationships private, Cage’s four-day marriage to makeup artist Erika Koike in 2019 was a public spectacle. The two were married in Las Vegas and their relationship blossomed while they were working together on a movie set. Cage spoke out about his marriage to Koike and revealed that he annulled the event because they were both intoxicated at the time and he was unaware of her relationship with someone else.

Cher and Gregg Allman – 9 days

Shortly after divorcing Sonny Bono in 1974, Cher married musician Gregg Allman in a quickie Las Vegas ceremony – but she filed for divorce nine days later, after reports of an alcohol-fueled bender made headlines. She addressed the press about her decision: “I’ve always believed it best to admit one’s mistakes as quickly as possible.” However, Allman convinced his wife to give their marriage another try, and she gave birth to their son Elijah Blue Allman in 1976. The couple finalized their divorce in 1979.

Mario Lopez and Ali Landry – 2 weeks

In 2004, actor Mario Lopez and model Ali Landry wed in a romantic ceremony in Mexico. Just over two weeks later, they filed for divorce. Years later, Lopez confirmed rumours that the breakup came about because he’d cheated on Landry during his bachelor party. “I got inebriated and a little too friendly with a young lady,” he wrote in his 2014 memoir. “When it was time to return home, lightning hit me with the truth: I wasn’t in love. But I walked down the aisle [anyway]. Ali was hurt and angry, rightfully so.”

Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds – 2 weeks

Entertainers such as Eddie Murphy often have a reputation for marrying multiple women. When he married businesswoman Tracey Edmonds, the union lasted only two weeks. Edmonds and Murphy tied the knot in a private ceremony in Bora Bora. However, since they needed to finalize their union in the United States, they had to plan another wedding in Beverly Hills. After a two-week honeymoon that was marred by rumours of an impending divorce, the couple jointly announced that they would not be holding the legal ceremony that would make their marriage official.

Drew Barrymore and Jeremy Thomas – 19 days

Hollywood superstar Drew Barrymore met her first husband Jeremy Thomas at his bar in 1994. Six weeks later, he proposed to her in an alley at 2am. Barrymore accepted, and Thomas paid an officiant $20 more than usual to marry them just three hours later. After their marriage, the couple began to have problems. Barrymore went to Hawaii alone for a honeymoon while Thomas was left behind in California. Barrymore cited “irreconcilable differences” as the main reason for their divorce. This was the first of three failed marriages for Barrymore, who has sworn she’ll never wed again.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries – 72 days

The marriage of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries was one of the most talked-about celebrity relationships ever. The pair got engaged in May 2011, married in August of that year, and were divorced by Halloween. In a blog post, Kardashian denied rumours that her 72-day marriage was a publicity stunt. “First and foremost, I married for love,” Kardashian said. “I can’t believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show.”

Ethel Merman and Ernest Borgnine – 32 days

Broadway star Ethel Merman wed Oscar-winning actor Ernest Borgnine in 1946. After their wedding, the couple endured a tumultuous 32 days together before separating, primarily due to his well-known temper. They later admitted that their marriage had been a colossal mistake. Borgnine, however, has no hard feelings for his ex-wife. In an interview with the Daily Mail, he said: “I was married to a lovely lady who was a star. I was married to her for 32 days and that was enough.”

Pamela Anderson and Jon Peters – 12 days

In the mid-’80s, Anderson met Peters at the Playboy mansion, and they eventually tied the knot in 2020. After 12 days of marriage, Anderson announced her split from Peters to The Hollywood Reporter on Feb. 1, 2020. A source told PEOPLE Magazine in February 2020 that Anderson decided to call off the marriage because she “just needed to take a step back.” In the statement, Anderson said the decision was mutual and that she and Peters remained friends. However, in September 2020, the actress claimed she was “never legally married.”

Jana Kramer and Johnathon Schaech – 12 days

Schaech and Kramer met on the set of Prom Night, a 2008 slasher film. They were married for 12 days before divorcing in 2010.
In April 2022, country singer and actress Kramer welcomed ex-husband Schaech onto her Whine Down podcast, in which the two discussed their relationship and why they split. “We were two very unhealed souls who came together,” Kramer told Schaech. “I was trying to fill a void – and there was no way you could’ve ever filled my need for love.”

Sinéad O’Connor and Barry Herridge – 18 days

After three months of dating, singer Sinéad O’Connor married her boyfriend, psychotherapist Barry Herridge, in a drive-thru ceremony in Las Vegas. But the marriage was short-lived: The singer wrote on her blog that the couple had “ended” the marriage because of the behaviour of certain people in Herridge’s life. In the end, the couple’s matrimony lasted just 18 days.

Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada – 41 days

In 2012, the former football star Chad Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, and Evelyn Lozada, a reality TV star from VH1’s Basketball Wives, tied the knot. Less than a month later, Johnson allegedly head-butted Lozada and sent her to the hospital. Soon after, Lozada filed for divorce claiming that their marriage was “irretrievably broken.” Johnson was cut from the Miami Dolphins and VH1 announced that it had cancelled the couple’s planned show Ev and Ocho.

LeToya Luckett and Rob Hillman – 2 months

LeToya Luckett, one of the original members of Destiny’s Child, divorced her husband Rob Hillman in August 2016. The pair had been married for only two months prior to their separation. The star did not talk about the split; TMZ reported that there was a clause in their divorce documents preventing either party from speaking about it or posting about it online.

Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon – 2 months

In 2007, Pamela Anderson and poker player Rick Salomon wed in a quick ceremony during a 90-minute break between the former Baywatch actress’s magic shows in Las Vegas. Two months later, they filed for an annulment, citing fraud as the reason. After splitting up in 2007, they got back together and married again in January 2014. Six months later Anderson filed for divorce, but she dismissed the petition one month later, telling PEOPLE that she and her husband were doing fine. She filed for divorce again in February 2015, citing irreconcilable differences. Whew!

Nicky Hilton and Todd Andrew Meister – 2 months

Nicky Hilton married Todd Andrew Meister at a Las Vegas wedding chapel in August 2004, just three months after the couple began seeing each other. Two months after their wedding, the heiress and businessman, who were living in L.A. and New York respectively at the time, announced their decision to annul their marriage. They cited their long-distance relationship as one of the main factors behind the split.

Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi and Shalom Yeroushalmi – 2 months

Golnesa Gharachedaghi and Shalom Yeroushalmi married in January 2017 but, in March 2017, a rep for the reality star confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple had split due to “certain facts” that Gharachedaghi discovered. In July 2017, Gharachedaghi revealed that she and Yeroushalmi had divorced because “submission breeds resentment.” “I have never believed in marriage,” she said. “I did something to make someone else happy and I completely regretted it afterwards. I knew what I did wasn’t right, and it wasn’t for my happiness, but for someone else’s.”

Meghan King and Cuffe Owens – 3 months

After being married for less than three months, Meghan King and Cuffe Owens called off their fairytale romance. The former Real Housewives of Orange County star and President Joe Biden’s nephew first met on a dating app. “I am rattled,” King wrote on her Instagram story in December 2021. “This situation is profoundly devastating.” She continued, “I am moving forward with my children as we privately process our pain and begin to let go of shattered dreams.”

Lisa Marie Presley and Nicolas Cage – 3 months

Although Nicolas Cage is a lifelong fan of Elvis, his marriage to Lisa Marie Presley in 2002 was not a successful one. Three months after the couple held a secret wedding ceremony in Hawaii, the actor filed for divorce. “I’m sad about this, but we shouldn’t have been married in the first place,” Presley explained in a statement released by her publicist, Paul Bloch.

Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito – 4 months

Actor Bradley Cooper’s marriage to NCIS star Jennifer Esposito was short-lived. The couple wed in December 2006, but by May 2007, Esposito had filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. The two actors were separated for quite a while before they officially called it quits. In 2011, Cooper opened up about the breakup saying, “It was just something that happened…The good thing is, we both realized it.”

Renée Zellweger and Kenny Chesney – 4 months

Actress Renée Zellweger and country superstar Kenny Chesney married in the U.S. Virgin Islands on May 9, 2005. Four months later, she filed for an annulment citing “fraud” as the reason for their split. Their annulment was finalized on Dec. 20, 2005, and Zellweger later described this failed union as “a very sad experience.”

Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray – 5 months

In April 2005, One Tree Hill co-stars Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray exchanged handwritten vows in front of 200 guests in Santa Monica. However, by that September they had already called it quits. In 2014, Bush opened up about her marriage, saying, “We were two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship in the first place.”

Shannen Doherty and Ashley Hamilton – 5 months

In September 1993, just two weeks after they began dating, acting power couple Shannen Doherty and Ashley Hamilton married. They surprised friends and family, including the groom’s father, actor George Hamilton, with their decision to wed at the actress’ home in L.A. Five months later, the actress filed for divorce from her husband. She later told PEOPLE that their relationship had been a “ridiculous thing.”

Colton Haynes and Jeff Leatham – 6 months

In May 2018, actor Colton Haynes and celebrity florist Jeff Leatham ended their marriage after six months. The couple had tied the knot in a nighttime ceremony officiated by Kris Jenner at a Palm Springs hotel. The pair eventually reached a divorce settlement in Los Angeles Superior Court on Sept. 24th, 2019, according to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Keshia Knight Pulliam and Ed Hartwell – 6 months

In 2016, actress Keshia Pulliam and her husband, former NFL star Ed Hartwell, filed for divorce. The couple had announced their pregnancy just days before the split, and following the break, Hartwell requested a paternity test for the child. In 2016, the couple wed in their living room. “We invited people,” Pulliam said on her podcast. “They had no clue they were coming to a wedding.”

Nicollette Sheridan and Aaron Phypers – 6 months

Six months after secretly marrying actor Aaron Phypers in December 2015, Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan filed for divorce from her husband, citing irreconcilable differences. The two had kept their relationship out of the public eye but had been spotted together since 2014. Phypers began dating Denise Richards in 2017 and the couple wed a year later.

Amelia Warner and Colin Farrell – 121 days

In July 2001, actor Colin Farrell and musician Amelia Warner married in a ceremony in Tahiti that was not legally binding. This turned out to be lucky for both of them: They split four months later, and their divorce was easy. “Too fast, too young,” said Farrell of his short-lived marriage to Warner. Warner has been married to actor Jamie Dornan since 2013.

Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock – 122 days

Despite the ups and downs of their relationship in the early noughties, Baywatch star Pamela Anderson and country singer Kid Rock married on a yacht in July 2006. The marriage lasted for about four months before Anderson filed for divorce in November of that year. In 2018, she revealed she hasn’t spoken to Kid Rock since their breakup. Ouch.

Tom Green and Drew Barrymore – 163 days

After two years of dating, actress Drew Barrymore and comedian Tom Green married in July 2001. The couple had met on the set of Charlie’s Angels in 1999, but it wasn’t long before their marriage began to fall apart. In November 2001, only five months after the wedding, they separated. “Drew is a wonderful woman. I love her very much. I wish our marriage could have worked out.” Green said in a statement at the time. “I wish her much happiness.” Years later, Barrymore described the couple as “young and kind of idiots.”

Tom D’agostino and Luann de Lesseps – 216 days

Real Housewives of New York star Countess Luann de Lesseps announced in August 2017 that she and Tom D’Agostino were splitting up after seven months of marriage. She later told Andy Cohen that the final straw came when D’Agostino went out drinking with an old girlfriend and met up with a group of people. She said, “I can’t do this anymore.”

Rudolph Valentino and Jean Acker – 6 hours

The ill-conceived marriage between Rudolph Valentino and Jean Acker was perhaps the first high-profile Hollywood divorce. The Italian actor impulsively wed the American actress in 1919, but she soon regretted the decision and locked him out of their honeymoon suite. After knocking at the door for 20 minutes, he headed home. In divorce proceedings, she claimed they never consummated their union.

Chris Kattan and Sunshine Tutt – 8 weeks

Comedian Chris Kattan married his model fiancée, actress Sunshine Tutt, in June 2008 in Yosemite Valley, California. “It feels real and honest, and I have more of a continuous smile than I have ever had before,” he said at the time. However, the relationship did not last. The pair split up after only two months of marriage and finalized their divorce in February 2009. After her divorce, Tutt switched her focus to her interior design company, Sublime Interior Designs.

Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd – 4 months

Jennifer Lopez married choreographer Cris Judd in September 2001, but by January 2002 they were separated. She told Us Weekly that he was “the love of my life” just weeks before their split became official. Judd reportedly received $15 million from the divorce settlement, and Lopez was engaged to actor Ben Affleck within less than a year.

Zsa Zsa Gabor and Felipe de Alba – 1 day

In 1983, actress Zsa Zsa Gabor married Count Felipe de Alba of Mexico on April 14th and divorced him on April 15th. On the same day that she married the count, Gabor discovered that she was still married to her seventh husband, Beverly Hills lawyer Michael O’Hara. The actress annulled the marriage the next day.

Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus – 8 months

After a couple of years of dating, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus wed in late December 2018. By early August 2019 though, the pair split up, with Hemsworth citing “irreconcilable differences” in his filing. A source close to the couple told PEOPLE that things had been rocky for months. “They’re not on the same page when it comes to a lot of fundamental things that make a relationship work. It’s not surprising at all.”

Elisabeth Moss and Fred Armisen – 8 months

Fred Armisen and Elisabeth Moss met when she filled in as a last-minute replacement for Amy Poehler on Saturday Night Live in October 2008, and they were married one year later. After just eight months, Moss filed for divorce. She has gone on record saying the relationship was “extremely traumatic and awful,” and “one of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, ‘He’s so great at doing impersonations, but the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person.'” Ouch.

Danielle Staub and Marty Caffrey – 4 months

Reality star Danielle Staub, who was previously married to businessman Thomas Staub, met Marty Caffrey at a seafood restaurant in New Jersey in 2016. They became a couple a week later and wed in The Bahamas on May 5, 2018. However, the couple’s blissful union hit a bump in the road when Staub claimed that Caffrey had put their home up for sale without consulting her first. The couple filed for divorce in August 2018 and their divorce was finalized in February 2019.

Audrina Partridge and Corey Bohan – 10 months

Audrina Patridge, who starred on the MTV reality show The Hills, split with Australian actor Corey Bohan in 2011. In divorce documents, Patridge stated that Bohan had become increasingly possessive and jealous of her career. She also noted that her top priority was their young daughter, Kirra, whether the couple continued their relationship or not.

Charlie Sheen and Donna Peele – 5 months

Charlie Sheen’s first wife, Donna Peele, was a young model when she met the actor in 1995. The two met in New York whilst shooting an advertising campaign for a cigarette brand. Sheen called the model his “angel” and said she was sent from heaven to be with him. They got married on his 30th birthday, Sept. 3, 1995. The couple split five months later, with Sheen saying: “You buy a bad car, it breaks down.”
